Course Description
This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation, and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters. It is designed for those who seeking work, or that want to gain advanced skills to use in aged care facilities and health and community organisations that provide care and services to seniors and the elderly.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support is made up of 18 total units which covers 15 core units and 3 elective units, including the required electives to specialise in elderly or senior care.

CHCCCS006 – Facilitate individual service planning and delivery
CHCCCS011 – Meet personal support needs
CHCCCS023 – Support independence and wellbeing
CHCCCS025 – Support relationships with carers and families
CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people
CHCLEG003 – Manage legal and ethical compliance
CHCPAL001 – Deliver care services using a palliative approach
CHCPRP001 – Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
HLTAAP001 – Recognise healthy body systems
HLTWHS002 – Follow safe work practices for direct client care
ELECTIVE UNITS:

Work-Based Training (WBT)
120 hours in an approved aged-care facility over the duration of the course.
Entry Requirements
Age Requirements
All students must be at least 18 years of age or above at the time of the course commencement to study at Mervic College.
English Language Requirements
Mervic approved LLN (ACSF level 3) or an English Placement Test;
OR
General English with Intermediate level achieved;
OR
Mature-age candidates with relevant industry experience
Academic Requirements
Completion of Year 11 or higher.
Pre-Training Review
All students are required to undertake a pre-training review that aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, the relevance of the courses to the learner, and relevant experience.
