Course Description
This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities. This course is suitable for those who wish to work in the roles of community services, case management, and social housing workers involved in the managing, coordinating, or delivering of person-centered services to individuals, groups, and communities. Get qualified for a broad range of careers in the community services.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

Course Structure
The CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability is made up of 14 total units which covers 11 core units and 3 elective units. These have been carefully selected to ensure that the course meets the needs of a wide range of roles requiring disability care and support skills.

CHCLEG003 – Manage legal and ethical compliance
CHCMGT005 – Facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes
CHCPRP003 – Reflect on and improve own professional practice
HLTWHS004 – Manage work health and safety
ELECTIVE UNITS:
CHCCSM005 – Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management
CHCCCS019 – Recognise and respond to crisis situations
CHCCSL001 – Establish and confirm the counseling relationship
CHCADV002 – Provide advocacy and representation services
CHCMHS001 – Work with people with mental health issues
CHCPRT001 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
CHCAOD009 – Develop and review individual alcohol and other drugs treatment plans
CHCCCS004 – Assess co-existing needs

Work-Based Training (WBT)
100 hours in an approved care facility over the duration of the course.
Entry Requirements
Age Requirements
All students must be at least 18 years of age or above at the time of the course commencement to study at Mervic College.
English Language Requirements
Mervic approved LLN (ACSF level 4-5) or an English Placement Test;
OR
General English with Intermediate level achieved;
OR
Mature-age candidates with relevant industry experience
Academic Requirements
Completion of Year 12 or higher.
Pre-Training Review
All students are required to undertake a pre-training review that aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, the relevance of the courses to the learner, and relevant experience.
